International Happiness Day!
Hello lovely!
Did you know that the 20th of March is the United Nations International ‘Day of Happiness’ each year? How beautiful right?
Understanding and celebrating your own happiness matters more than ever for your health and wellness while you're facing this global challenge therefore, I have some brief questions which will ideally bring you lasting results so, if you're ready and willing to 'get your happy' on let’s jump straight in!
What does a day of happiness mean to you?
What does happiness in itself mean to you?
What does this look or feel like?
What impact do you think it could have on you?
I really encourage you to reflect on these questions...either close your eyes to think about them and visualise what you sense, or simply write them down. You might come up with ideas you’ve never considered before or even forgotten what makes you happy (don’t judge yourself, these are things unique to you and your talents that YOU enjoy!)
So lovely, what are yours?
When you reflect on what makes you happy you can incorporate these things into your life on a daily or regular basis and this would lead you to make decisions that are good for your personal happiness, rather than detrimental, because you’ll know in advance what outcomes would bring you peace and what outcomes would bring you strife (who wants strife hey?!)
This is such good timing too because before too long this global lockdown will be over and you can consider whether the things you used to do were conducive to your happiness and if so, GREAT continue on! If not, can you eliminate them completely, or reduce them at least?
Start planning now, for your happiness later.
After relecting on the same questions I KNOW that my ‘new normal’ is now going to include full annual membership to my gym and I’m going to bake more BUT I won’t be over-committing myself anymore which totally drains and overwhelms me.
And finally, did you know that when you’re in your ‘happy place’ one or more of four major chemicals are triggered in your brain…so you are literally giving yourself a DOSE of:
1. Dopamine
2. Oxytocin
3. Serotonin
4. Endorphins
It's very helpful to remember this when you don't have the energy or motivation to get up and do what you know you want to do. Just DO IT!!! You'll reap the rewards of bringing that DOSE into your life…which is proven to bring happiness, health and healing to your mind, body and spirit.
Wishing you a ‘Day of Happiness’ forevermore,
Lucy x
